Course content includes:
- Medical aspects of Legionellosis, incidence, ecology, factors affecting growth, interactions and basis of control
- Legal requirements, including the statutory requirements of ACoP L8 technical guidance document and how they apply within the public sector
- Understanding of potential risk areas within hot and cold water systems
- How to develop and maintain a strategy including techniques to minimise proliferation
- Monitoring and sampling techniques, interpretation of results and review of data
- Clean and disinfection techniques and evaluation of their effectiveness
- How to record information and reporting procedures, operating and maintaining a logbook and evaluating control measures
- Introduction to risk assessments- what is a hazard; what is risk; the water safety plan approach and revision of the underlying legislation
- The Code of Practice BS 8580; pre-assessment on site visits: what an effective risk assessment should contain
- Evaluating the risk assessment service provider – discussion / workshop
- Virtual Risk Assessment Exercise
- Risk factors for Legionella growth – other risk systems
Our fully accredited 2 day course has been designed to prepare delegates for the challenges associated with the control and management of the hot and cold water systems within the work place.
The courses will provide delegates with an introduction to Legionella bacteria and Legionnaires’ disease.
This will lead to safe water system management and maintenance by ensuring control measures and monitoring practices are correctly implemented in accordance with ACoP L8 (4th Edition) and guidance within HSG274 part 2.
